Joomlas2Go! is a pre-built compilation of Joomla! version in the most optimun way, with Server2Go!. In other words, to be able to start to create your website with Joomla!, download the file, extract the content from the Zip o 7z file to your hard disk and just "Click" on the "Server2Go.exe" file to start up (Internet Explorer will wake up automatically with your Joomla! inside).

To sent us any questions not yet published in this FAQ about Joomla's2Go! you must be a registered user and to be logged-in with your Username and Password.

All the Joomla's2Go! compilations are configured with the following parameters to access the Administrator Backend:

URL by default: http://127.0.0.1:4001/administrator/

Username: admin Password: demo

 

Specially, to have Joomla! 1.0.x rinning insode Server 2Go taking profit of all its potential aprovechando todo su potencial is needed to stablish the following parameters inside the "configuration.php" file:

 

IMPORTANT: If you edit "configuration.php" fron your backend through the "Global Configuration" menu you will over write this parameters and you qill lose some of the characteristics of Server2GO ( Ex. to be able to duplicate your Joomla's2Go! compilation as much times you would like inside other HD or directory). if you make changes through the "Global Configuration" menu come back allways to repair it manual witl this parameters.

 

 

To import your Joomla! site Online to a copy of your Joomla's2Go! follow the nest steps:

• Check that your configuration.php file of your Joomla! inside your Joomla's2Go! is correctly configured as described in our article from this FAQ, named: "How to edit or repair the configutation.php file?"
• Check you already have the most recent copy or backup of your site online (all the files and its MySQL Data base), and you know your Super-Adim Username and Password of your online site.
• Copy all the content from your original Joomla's2Go! (Ex. "Joomlas2Go 1.0.15 ES") to other directory (Ex. "mysiteonline").
• Access tou your directory "mysiteonline" and edit the file "pms_config.ini" changing temporarly the parameter: DefaultRoot=htdocs/joomlas2go/ to DefaultRoot=htdocs
• Now run the file "Server2Go.exe" and you will see, inside an "Internet Explorer" window, the "Server2Go" server configuration. Click-On MySQL: "phpMyAdmin"
• Access tu the "js2godb" and delete its content.
• Import to this DB, named "js2godb" your DB of your site online, when done: close the Internet explorer window to shut-down your Server2Go server automatically.
• Delete al the content of following Dir: ..\misitioonline\htdocs\joomlas2go\ and paste here all your files from your "site online"
• Check you did not included the .htaccess file (the one from your online server root ). If is there delete it or rename it to server.htacces.txt to make it inactive inside the local server.
• Edit the imported configuration.php file , now in ..\misitioonline\htdocs\joomlas2go\ with the correct paramenters as described in our article located in our FAQ named: "How to edit or repair the configutation.php file?"
• Restore your file "pms_config.ini" changing the parameter: DefaultRoot=htdocs to DefaultRoot=htdocs/joomlas2go/
• To see the result just run the file "Server2go.exe" in your "local copy" of your site "online".

 

IMPORTANT: Some Joomla! add-ons (Components, Moduls, Plugins/Mambots...) create their own DB tables and fix some absolute rutes indepentdently to the Joomla! core at the moment are being installed, this fact could make that will not work correctly when Importing / exporting your site. Always check the fuctionality of your site including all your extensions that you have installed.when you import or export your sites! before cleaning your backups.

 

The needed configuration to have Joomla's2Go! compilations to run, inside Server2Go, from Hard disk or USB Portable Disk... is the default one in Joomla's2Go! compilations.

The needed configuration to have Joomla's2Go! compilations to run, inside Server2Go, from CD or DVD... is not the default one, you will need to modify some parameters inside the file "pms_config.ini":

At Joomla's2Go!, from the last June, 18 2008, after the oficial release of Firefox 3.0 from Mozilla, we have stablished Firefox 3.0 Portable from PortableApps.com as the default browser.

Anyway, there is a potential risk that some incompativilities should appear depending the software you have intalled / running in your PC . It is recommended too if you intention is to create a CD with your Joomla's2Go! compilation to fix IE as default to obtain as much compatibility as posible when your copimpilation will run on other outside PC's.

To change the browser by default just follow this steps:

Modify the following parameters inside the 'pms_config.ini" file:

- To fix INTERNET EXPLORER by default:

BrowserType=IEXPLORER

- To fix DEFAULT by default (the "default" browser fixed inside Windows will be used)* NO RECOMMENDED:

BrowserType=DEFAULT

- To fix EXTERNAL by default (allows you to fix an external browser through its absolute path)**:

ServerName=Joomlas2Go

BrowserType=EXTERNAL

 

BrowserPath=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe or BrowserPath=C:\Program Files\Opera\opera.exe

IMPORTANT: Do not use Windows Variables to fix the absolute Path like BrowserPath=C:\%PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe because this will not work. with Firefox Server2Go shutdown after few seconds and stop running).

* Very risky for Joomla's2Go! if running from CD, DVD o USB Portable because, subject to the browser by default and its version fixed at the host PC, should not wake up correctly.

**Not recommended for Joomla's2Go! if running from CD, DVD o USB Portable because if the predefined browser should not be installed at the host PC will not wake up.

The default config. of Joomla's2Go! do not allow to access the Server / PhPMyAdmin at the same time than to the Frontend and the Backend.

For Joomla's2Go! - Joomla! 1.5.4 version, only!

Over the default Joomla's2Go!, Joomla! configuration... How to fix JA_Purity template to show the Top Menu correctly that is missed by default?:

Create a new one or edit the Top Menu module inside Extensions/Module Manager, as follows:

- Fix the new module, Module position to 'hornav' or change the default one from 'user3' to 'hornav'
- Fix Module Style inside Module Parameters to: 'List'
- Fix Always show sub-menu Items to: 'Yes'
- Fix Module Class Suffix and Menu Class Suffix from '-nav' to: ' ' (empty)

 

The provided Joomlas2Go version runs on Windows, only.

The reason why I do not compile a Mac version is because the other main component apart of Joomla! is Server2Go and the MacOSX beta version is not free (is a donationware licence software). Accordingly I can not compile it with Joomla! and Firefox Portable, and redistribute it freely under OPEN SOURCE licence.
